Societys Concept of Beauty

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” as the common saying goes and there is no real definition of what is beautiful since the concept of beauty differs from one culture to another. Even people of the same culture have differing thoughts on what makes a person beautiful. Society’s concept of beauty is constantly evolving. There were times in the past when people’s concept of beauty are people of plus sizes while in other times, people who are tall and slim are considered beautiful. In the Miss Universe pageant, women from South America often win the contest. Sometimes, the beauty and cosmetics industry forces a definition of what is beautiful through a series of adverts and marketing strategies. However, the truth is, the concept of beauty is a matter of personal preference.
